New Book Club Chooses Nelms Book as Inaugural Title

Dear MLI Alumni,

We are excited to announce the MLI Book Club! We are launching it as an opportunity for our alumni to connect and to foster a sense of community as we continue on our respective leadership journeys. For many, MLI has been a life-changing experience, and we hope to continue to provide you support during this unprecedented time.

The book club will consist of one book every quarter, starting with From Cotton Fields to University Leadership: All Eyes on Charlie, A Memoir by nationally recognized higher education leader and MLI founder Dr. Charlie Nelms.

Nelms will host our first online book club discussion on Friday, October 2, from 2–3:30 p.m. ET. We know this will be a lively meeting as we learn more about his life story and dig deep to share our own experiences.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Karusha Naidoo, MLI’s program manager. As part of our launch, we will be sending the first 20 alumni who sign up a free copy!
We look forward to reconnecting with you and creating an engaging space with rich conversation and reflection.
 Best wishes,

Mary Evans Sias, Director
Millennium Leadership Initiative and Assistant to the President
